Michael Edwards, DDS, MSD
My mission is to restore the confidence that comes from a healthy smile. I specialize in periodontics and dental implant placement, focusing on conservative and surgical treatment of gum disease including cosmetic procedures to aesthetically enhance smiles. I have worked hard to create a team of individuals who are committed to treating patients with respect and care. I am proud of the team of professionals I surround myself with every day.
I am a proud IU alumni and a husband and father of 3. I enjoy spending time with my wife who is a Pediatric dentist, watching my kids enjoy their school and sporting events and of course my two dogs.
For Dr. Michael Edwards, entering into dentistry was a foregone conclusion since college. "Having lunch with his dentist to better understand the profession, sealed the deal,” he remembers. "I knew I wanted to work in healthcare, and to own my own practice. It became clear that dentistry was my destiny!" Dr. Edwards credits his persistence and attention to detail as a form of natural selection. It created opportunities that led to his choosing periodontics as a specialty.
History & Education
Dr. Edwards grew up in Carmel, IN, and was both the Vice President of his class and captain of the wrestling team. His summer job as a golf caddie helped him earn the Evans Scholarship, while imbuing him with a love of the game. A double major in Chemistry and Biology at Indiana University led to years of study at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Edwards achieved his DDS, his Certificate of Periodontics, and his MS. He followed up with certification in a variety of specialty procedures, including teeth in a day and IV sedation.
Philosophy
“I see my primary goal as being to orchestrate a team to deliver the highest level dentistry through a comfortable, comforting process," Edwards says. “The team isn't just myself, my staff, and any other dentists involved — it includes the patient as well. I also strive to serve as a visionary for the practice, to create a place for us in the rapidly changing dental marketplace. I love watching my team grow and become stronger. I also love being able to sit with patients who had been told by other practices that they couldn't be helped, and going over everything we've done together."
